Hc Carpet Emersed

I have grown hc emersed and submersed it it loses some of its leaves but doesn t take forever to grow back.

Mosses in particular have very different emersed structures and can be quite cool looking. Majority in the trade or aquaria market sells cuba in the emersed form and it has roundish leaves. Its also known as pearl weed. I don t think emersed growth works as well for hairgrass in terms of getting a very thick coverage like with hc. Light will be medium high. Glosso will be a better choice if it is frst time trying.

Sometimes you can see the tiny white flowers in the axils. But it does demonstrate that high light no co2 doesn t always translate into an automatic algae fest that is if the plants are growing well. The carpet of glossostigma in the picture below is grown using 150w metal halides hung 2 feet above the tank. Cuba has smaller leaves and a bit narrower. Imo it s all about lighting and co2. This light level is probably excessive.

However i think the initial 1 month of being established when emersed helped a lot and prevented algae issues with the hairgrass.
