There are a number of effective ways to remove dried play doh from carpet. A sopping wet cloth will soak the carpet padding. If there is still some soft dough that has made its way deep into the carpet take some white play dough and tap and dab a bit so that the white dough will attack itself to the soft dough deep inside the carpet. Separate the carpet fibers slightly with your hands to reach bits of deep down play doh.

If the stain still remains try to blot the stain in the carpet with a bit of rubbing alcohol on a clean white dishcloth.
