If your area rug is for a sitting area make sure the edges of the rug go under the sofa or chairs to help keep it from moving.
It was a great size for my small office space underneath my desk.
Set the corners back in their natural position.
This should flatten the areas out.
Many times this will allow the rug to lay smooth for a while.
To flatten corners that are curling upward fold them slightly under so the curve points down leaving them.
I added an area rug but was having issues with it buckling under the legs of my turquoise desk.
The carpet in that room is a neutral read boring beige i wanted to use a black and white check area rug that i bought from ikea several years ago.
If it lies flat you are rubbing with the pile.
Please share and thumbs up.
Measure in 1 2 inch from the edge of the rug.
Mark on each side of the gripper pad.
Stand at the edge of the rug where the pile runs flat or smooth.
Cut around each side on the marks you made.
Then take an iron and set it to a medium heat.
Lay a damp towel over the edges and iron them flat.
Sometimes the corners won t lie flat even after the rest of the rug relaxes in place.
Ideally there should be furniture holding the rug on all four sides but if the furniture is heavy enough simply anchoring it on two opposite sides may be enough.
If the ends still curl up move to the next steps.
If the pile stands up you are rubbing against the pile.
